He is in demand as a private trumpet instructor and clinician, and is a member of the faculty of the Interprovinical Music Camp of Canada. In addition to his activities as a performer and educator, Scott is an avid transcriber of music for many types of ensembles including, of course, TBQ.

Scott began studying trumpet in Toronto at the age of 14. After finishing high school at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, Scott continued his studies at the University of Toronto where his teachers included Jeffrey Reynolds, and Barton Woomert. After graduation, he pursued private studies with legendary pedagogues Vincent Cichowicz and Arnold Jacobs. In 1994, Scott toured Canada as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
